About General Surgery
General Surgery, despite its name, is a surgical specialty focusing on the abdominal organs, neck, extremities and breast. It also deals with surgical procedures for the oesophagus, stomach, colon, liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, and also the thyroid gland and hernias. Broad types of surgeries performed:

General Surgeons deal with a broad range of emergency procedures- depending on the specialisation of the Surgeon. Procedures such as those for the treatment of varicose veins, circumcision, vasectomies and skin cancer removal are often conducted by General Surgeons.
